The best apologies are the ones where someone takes responsibility without making excuses. I think it means a lot when a person not only says they are sorry, but also shows through their actions that they understand what went wrong and want to do better. A genuine apology can rebuild trust because it shows respect for the other person’s feelings and the relationship.
